Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533) was an influential Italian poet and playwright, best known for his epic poem “Orlando Furioso,” which is considered one of the masterpieces of Renaissance literature. Born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, Ariosto was the son of a noble family and received an education that included law and literature.
